Fired for ?????

I am a Canadian and worked for a fairly large insurance company until only a few days ago where I suddenly near the end of the business day received a call from the Manager (my supervisor's boss) and she said "sorry to bother you, but could you come down and see me for a minute?", so with that I did. From that point I can't take up to the H.R dept in lead into a small meeting room where the H.R manager was waiting (my supervisor was not at this "meeting"), why, I have no idea. At that point they put a letter in front of me with a notice of termination and a severance package. No reason given except that the Manager indicated "we need to part ways". I have no idea what happened, I have searched my mind and can find nothing of significance that would warrant this extreme decision. The only thing that I can come up with is about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago I received a somewhat unflattering review. I had no prior knowledge of the problem. My work was excellent and my work habits were excellent as well, but they had some problem (which was never clarified) that was related to my "interpersonal skills". To this day I have no idea what the problem was, was the situations were specifically. I proceeded to basically sign all my emails "have a nice day" as a change and continued to do this until my last day earlier this week. For the first 4 months after this "review" I would forward her all my email correspondence (since I was now parinoid) to make sure it was in the correct manner and basically watched every word I said. We would meet during this 4 months every second Friday so she could provide me with feedback on my 2 weeks work in this area. My feedback was positive and after a period time she discontinued the meetings, nothing further said until about 2 weeks before my termination where I went to see her about a business related issue and at that time she indicated to me that I had said something to one of the team members that was not good. She really didn't elaborate too much on the entire situation so I am still not clear on what the problem was to this day. I can say that I have had collegues and co-workers call me since my termination that are in complete shock and dismay (not as much as I am). One of the persons that contacted me with the Group Business Development Manager for whom I did a lot of work for on technical support for himself and his sales team to help service their clients. He said that all the people including himself feel completely totally blown away and that someone "upstairs" made a big mistake as the company and the clients will suffer. All of these people have offered me support and offered to me to use them as a reference.

Now that I have said all the above and gotten that off of my chest. My question is this, what do I say to prospective employers about why I am no longer with my employer? They are going to ask. I was basically terminated without cause or reason and just given a package and that's it. Any comments or ideas?
