Fired for... being last man hired?
First of all, this was some years ago. I got hired to do a programming job, really straightforward stuff (or so I thought), with a small outfit that was consulting for 1 major client to develop a custom piece of software. Everything seemed ok for the first 7.5 hours I was there, but near the end of the day, the one supervisor I had came over and started instructing me on how to use the computer because I asked what form they wanted me to build. I didn't ask HOW to build a form, but whatever. She started yelling at me about something, I don't even know what it was, and I did my best to put up with it. I continued to work there for about 2 weeks, all the while getting no: 1) design specs on what I'm supposed to be building, 2) responses to questions about what exactly I'm supposed to be doing, 3) work assigned from anyone. Finally the boss called me in and fired me, in front of this supervisor, saying that I wasn't doing any work and that they "had been burned before"... gee i wonder who caused the burn the last time? Here's food for thought: if you got burned once and then you think you're getting burned again, it's not me its YOU who's probably causing it. I didn't actually get any justification as to why I wasn't assigned any work or anything.Epilogue: The company folded within weeks(?), I ran into a former employee at the mall and they said the owner skipped town and basically everyone just stopped going once the client decided they didn't want the app after all (or something)... ha ha!
