Fired for not being a good "scooper" (Sep.2005 entry)!
Well I had been working for this smoothie bar for two summers, and our old manager quit. So this new manager comes in, and immediately hires four new employees, who happen to be the sons and daughters of her friends. As this is nearing the end of summer, we already had a full staff. To make things worse, she made two of these employees, who had only worked there two weeks, assistant managers. So one day I come in to see my schedule, and I see that my shifts have been cut in half. I ask my manager why, and she tells me that they have to train the new employees, but that I will get my hours back the next week. So the next week I go back in, and I have zero hours. I see my manager sitting outside with HER boss, so I ask her what the deal is. She says that everything is fine, and that she will doulble my shifts the next week, because the training took longer than expected. Well, I go in the next week, wave hello to my boss (who smiles, waves hello, and doesnt say a wordto me) and go to the back to clock in. Before I clock in, one of the newly appointed assistant managers approaches me and says that we need to talk. He takes me into the back, and says that he has been monitoring my performance for the past two weeks (the first of which he was a trainee and the second I wasnt even working) and that he's going to have to let me go. If it wasnt bad enough that I was getting fired by someone with 2 years less experience than me who was already my superior, when I asked what exactly I had done wrong, get this, he said "BAD SCOOPING"
