getting fired for disputing a traffic ticket

My biggest firing is kind of boring, but it was SO unfair! I got a traffic ticket for "failure to stop at a stop sign" and I DID stop at it! For a full 3 seconds! Then the officer added "speeding" to the violation! I had to take a day off from my brand new job so I could fight the ticket.

I had just got a REALLY boring but REALLY good job and I was 3 weeks into it. They loved me and said I was the fastest learner they've ever seen and they had 3 people on this job before me but none of them worked out because they couldn't do the job...they said I was a godsent!

So I had to call out on Thursday and I told them on Monday. The whole office was all sympathetic and like "Oh I hope you win your case! I fought a traffic ticket once! Good luck!" Then on Wednesday morning I reminded them I had the next day off AND throughout the day I would mention how I hope I win my case tomorrow. My boss even talked to me for 10 minutes about it!

So at 5:00 I left to go home and I didn't feel it neccessary to remind them AGAIN that I had tomorrow off...the whole world knew I did!

The next day I sat in the courthouse ALLLLL day and they never got to my case!!! They said I could come back tomorrow or 3 months from now! I wanted this overwith ASAP so I said I'd be back tomorrow! I called my company immediately and left a message that I HAD to be out one more day and I was really sorry...I called them again that morning to apologize and to say it was really important. (I left messages...the office wasn't open when i called)

around 2:00 (my case had just ended at 1:00 and I won! I got the ticket wiped out!) I got a REALLY REALLY ANGRY phone call from the person that hired me. She was PISSED!!! She gave me a HUGE lecture about how I was the most Unproffesional, Irresponsible, unreliable person ever! She told me they had to call in a temp to do my job and they were LIVID that I called out for TWO days (heaven forbid!) and the reason they were so mad? They claimed they had NO IDEA I wasn't going to be in Thursday and then when I called out Friday they were even MORE mad! The hiring Mgr. ranted and raved that they "recalled SOMETHING about how I MIGHT have to call out Thursday to dispute a ticket" but I "never" reminded them or followed up!!!! WHAT???

I explained that I told them on Monday and reminded them Wednesday morning and she screamed at me and said "reminding them on Wednesday morning is ridiculous...they didn't even remember!!! You should have announced it when you left at 5:00 and they said they never even approved it!" (BIG lie!!!!) I even told her that I talked about my court case all day and everyone was wishing me luck. She didn't care...She told me I was FIRED and that they liked the TEMP they had to call in "way better than me!" (LAME) and that the temp was a fast learner and way more proffesional than me! Then she told me I might want to take a week to get my priorities straight before I find another job because I seemed to be "unprepared for the real world" !!!!!
