Fired in the kindest possible way
The company I was working for was being purchased by a much larger corporation which had pledged to hire as many of the current employees as possible. In order to determine how each of us would fit in to the new company the new employer sent representatives to interview us. One by one my friends went to their interviews and returned an hour later with stories of how nice the new bosses were and how they talked about their career interests and the new benefits they would have. Finally it was my turn for an interview. Here is a transcript:
Interviewer: So, do you like working here?
Me: Yup.
Interviewer: Well, good luck to you then.
Having never been fired previously I wasn't even sure that I should be leaving, but the next thing I knew I was at my desk picking out a time for my outplacement counseling.
