fired for magnets
Just got a phone call, wasnt me who got fired, but my co-worker. Hope you like the story anyways.
The current job i have (hope i still have it) is a yard hostler, moving containers around for a import/export company. These containers, at the shipping docks, are marked by magnets, about 2"x2", each telling about what it is. Color coded for country, an E or L for empty or loaded, ect.
Supposedly, when they leave the dock, the security gaurd removes the magnets. Naturally, some slip up and get missed. We yard hostlers got an idea, and started a friendly contest to see how many we could each get in a month. Since we all drive our own trucks, we just started posting the magnets on our door, red barron style, and put our initials on each one to avoid stealing. Looser was supposed to buy lunch.
My weekend coWorker just got fired. Seems the boss caught him placing the magnet on his door, and must have thought it was a sticker instead. He got a verbal recommend for "defacing" company property. When he showed it was a magnet, it was then: so your trying to make a fool out of me? Your fired! I wonder what will happen to me come monday?
