We were having a rather slow evening in a restaurant i bartended in 4 nights a week when one of our most frequent and high spending guests came in. We spoke for a few moments with him being the only customer at the bar while we went through an extensive wine list to come up with his selection settling on an alexander valley 97 silver oak (at 500 a bottle). at the end of the evening he was the only customer i had at the bar the entire evening so my total sales.... 500.00. when i turned in my check in the manager asked me why i waited a few minutes to ring up the bottle to which i said, he was the only customer, spent 500 on a bottle of wine and was only here to visit with me so i made sure to give him some conversation. the boss then told me i took to long to ring it up so he had to let me go, it wass rung up (as the only sale i had all night) but the reason given, it was not done FAST enough, seemed like getting ticketed for attempted speeding.
