I fired my best friend

My first job was at a cinnamon roll stand in a large supermarket chain. In addition to the cinnamon roll stand there was also a resturant and a snack bar. One moring I walked into work at 5 am and was greeted by a strange man in a tie as soon as I walked in the door. He asked where I worked then said "Oh, you still have a job" he then explained that they were shutting down the resturant and snack bar effective immediatly and the space was going to be converted to a garden center, but the cinammon roll stand would remain open. This was also happening to 6 other stores in our area. They would be having a meeting later that morning with all employees to advise them they were all fired but would receive a severance package. He then sent me to on my way to make some cinammon rolls.

I called my best friend who was a waitress in the resturant and asked if she was coming to the meeting. When she asked what it was for I told her...."You're Fired" She rattled off a few naughty words then went back to bed. She said there was no reason to come in.

Although I still had a job, two weeks later I received a severance package of two weeks worth of pay. Apparently when I had helped out another location they had me listed as a resturant employee and when they closed they paid me out. The company never figured it out and I kept the money! ;)

The garden center was a failure and was closed a few years later. :p
