Fixing the books

I was a controller for a hotel property when the property was sold and bought by private owners. The new owners came in and had said that we should continue business as usual and they would make changes as they saw fit.

So, I went about doing my daily audits but at every turn I was being reprimanded for doing things "wrong" and not knowing how to follow direction. Eventually, the owner who was working as GM for the property asked me to fix the books. There was no way I was going to do that and a huge argument ensued.

We were in his office and he started to scream and snap his fingers at me, telling me how easily I could be replaced. I am not typically an angry person, but I leaned over his desk and started yelling back about how he was more than welcome to fire me and that I had been looking for another position anyways.

We yelled back and forth for a good 15 minutes and I think his wife just about fell off her chair as I don't believe that the culture they come from you typically see a woman yelling at a man.

Come to find out, he had stolen a large amount of money from the partners and he was never heard from again.
