I was employed with a hospital in the small town of Victoria Texas. I loved my job and had been there about 3 years when the hospital was bought by a subsidiary of xxx. Of course they were very carefully and remotely affiliated by saying they were owned by a company called xxx. But as is common with xxx the truth was they were one and the same. So things went to hell real fast. They made tons of promises and didn't come through with any of them. I was scheduled to work the 7p-7a shift one night and I received a phone call just minutes till I left to go to work. It was the director of nurses from the "new company's" sister hospital. I was on speakerphone oon their end as she proceeded to tell me not to go to work, that I was being fired. It was over an error I had made many months before they purchased my hospital. The error didn't directly relate at all to work and didn't even happen while I was at work. Everyone knew about anyway though as I was open about it to all of the management. My direct boss had even told this supervisor about it himself. But she apparently decided today was the day to fire someone. She denied any knowledge of the error beforehand. Texas is a right to work state so I lost out. I had a perfect record with them and in all that time I had never received a single reprimand or complaint against me period. So any of you looking to work for xxxx Hospital System remember this and stay away. The same management is still there. Despite my wishes that the DON gets a treatment like the witch in the Wizard of Oz. House anyone? :-p
