I recently applied for a hotel front desk job. The manager was relieved to see me, and said the company desperately needed help at both it's locations. I went to the other inn, application in hand. The front desk guy was surly and unkempt. This was a high-class mountain inn. He snuffed at my application, and said they didn't need help. I told him of the other manager's comments-"oh, her" he grunts. So I left and continued my job search. A week later I hear from the first manager. She apologizes for the front desk slug's behavior, and tells me to call the owner at the inn that afternoon. I made two calls, both times was treated rudely and told the owner NEVER came to the inn! I called the first manager, and she said she'd get right back to me. A few minutes later, she called back and said that because of my "harassment" of the front desk staff, I was being "let go". I pointed out that I'd never even been interviewed. She said "I'm sorry" and hung up. Despite a degree and exten sive hospitality experience, I'm out! Fired before I was interviewed! Beat that!!

I love the hospitality industry. It has everything...except for hospitality.
