Are You Sure?

I used to work in the oil business here in Anchorage. In 1992 we went through one of the many 'contractions' that plague that industry. I was fed up and let my boss and his boss know it would be best for the company and myself if I did not survive the layout. So, I was a willing participant. Knowing this, on the fateful hatchet day, my boss fired me first. He called me into his office, closed the door, and asked " Are you sure you want to do this?"

Thinking quickly, I asked him back, "Can I change my mind?"

I could see the panic in his eyes, thinking I HAD changed my mind, and he frantically answered "No!".

I laughed and told him, "Then don' ask the question." It took 2 minutes to sign the paperwork and I had all my stuff gone from the office in less than an hour. I don't miss it one bit.
