My new job's men's room toilet stall was poorly assembled. You could see who was on the seat through a 3-inch gap. One day while I was on the toilet, a female janitor came in to the men's room unannounced. I assumed she would leave quickly once she realized the room was occupied, so I cleared my throat. Instead of leaving, she made eye contact through the gap and smirked. She began cleaning the bathroom sinks and acting as if something was amusing. I assumed that she was embarrassed in an awkward situation and wasn' sure how to react. She had a thick accent; perhaps we had a culture gap? I thought it was a one-time event and forgot about it. The next week, she did the same thing again- twice! I asked her to leave until I was finished- she thought that was hilarious. I complained to my new boss and cleaning staff all began giving me the stink eye. A couple of weeks later, upper management decided it best to resolve the situation by firing me. I was escorted out of the building by security.
