"Footloose"

A few years ago, I got fired from a data entry job over "dress code issues" on two successive workdays.

The first day I got sent home and received a three day suspension for having my shoes off under my desk. They allowed this for females - and only if the females wore pantyhose. Hosiery was not required, but a lady could walk around with their shoes left under their desk if they had hose on, but if you were seen at your desk barefoot with your shoes off, you went home. Their reasoning was "If you wore pantyhose, customers think your feet hurt, and they will accept it. If you are barefoot, people will think you WANT to be barefoot. That is offensive to people."

The following Monday, I go to work, and hit with another dress code violation: Not wearing a belt. They recently passed a rule that belts were required for pants with belt loops. Since I already got suspended for dress code, they decided to terminate me.

This is an office where customers or guests aren't allowed in. Three years of "Employee of the Month" awards, never calling out, and getting fired over two dress code violations.
