canned for refusing to steal from customers
I had been working at an auto dealership for almost 2 years. One Saturday a couple expecting their first child were trading in their sedan on a minivan. We had the deal worked out and I was filing out the paperwork before getting final approval from the sales manager and sending them to F & I. One question is how much is still owed on the trade-in. The guy says about $10800. That's what I put down. When I'm in the sales office the manager calls up their loan for a payoff amount and it's about $9900. He chuckles and tells me that I am NOT to mention this to my customers.
Well I do believe in the hereafter, final judgement and all that. So I tell these folks they owe less than they think. They get the correct payoff amount put into the contract while in F & I. I complete delivery of the minivan and they drive off.
Right after that my name booms across the lot's PA calling me to the sales office. In there the sales manager tells me to get off the lot and don't come back until and unless I bring the $900 profit that I 'cost' them by being honest.
