Moved 400 miles 03/05, quit an outstanding job with a company not closing until 12/05 to take a job with a company you are very enthused about and offers a longer career opportunity.

First day there you find out the VP who hired you has been let go and your boss says he didn’t have to hire you, but thought you had the skills that were needed! Now they say you don’t have an office due to renovations, you don’t have a phone because you have no office, the people you were hired to supervise aren’t going to report to you and the hours you agreed to work have now changed! You don’t take the COBRA option from your previous employer as the new companies insurance doesn’t exclude previous un insured conditions.

After 6 weeks, and 4 days after your COBRA option expires, they terminate without reason, as they are allowed to do under Florida law! They put on hold your final expense claim for $300 and it takes you 2 months to finally get them to pay it, because they say they have no paperwork saying the expenses covering the job interview you traveled 400 miles to, was to be paid. In the pursuit of this money, they also say they don’t even have a signed copy of the job offer, that was signed in the HR office the week they offered me the position!

Now tell me if this doesn’t reek of them minimizing their liability for having offered me a job and then, for whatever reasons, deciding they don’t want me any more. If they didn’t take me I’m certain there would have been some legal recourse. By taking me they can simply say it didn’t work out. I really feel this was deliberate on there part and a totally rotten thing to do to any person. As a side note and totally non related to me, my boss there was fired with cause 4 working days after me, doesn’t prove anything but it was somewhat gratifying!
