fired on vacation!!!
this is my first post on this site. i was browsing this site because this week i got fired from a job then hired back to it at the end of the day. but thats a whole other story. getting fired sucks and it bummed me out all week. it reminded me of the last time i was fired which was the most ultimate suck/wrong experience ever.
I took a vacation to california to see family and friends. my first day back from the job as i walk in i get called directly into the office. the manager starts droning on about are you happy here? are their any situations going on that are affecting your performance as a salesman? blah blah blah. then he pulls out these papers and asks me to read them over. i do. its a written evaluation from a secret shopper. says he was helped by a black male in his mid to late 40's who was rude and lazy. the secret shopper goes into detail that his grooming habits were poor, shirt untucked, no name tag, and was leaning against the wall while attempting to poorly assist him in the sale..... ok i'm 27 now and this was like 6 or 7 years ago so imagine my shock when i listened to the manager try to say this was me. as i remember when i finished reading it i was like so? lol. yea. i hadnt figured out where it was heading yet. so i asked the manager.. so? kinda shrugged my shoulders and was like where was this? what store? who did this? i think this is what pissed him off most. i was the only black guy working in that store... so hes like come on... what do you think? its obvious this is you. what happened? this is not like you. were you having a bad day or something? i was like... umm no. i was in cali visiting family... just got back here last night. so then he gets pissed. apparently he was on vacation as well. he starts carrying on how he cant leave without someone acting a fool while hes gone and how i could just lie to his face. so now i say to him do i look like i'm in my 40's? get out of my office your last check will be here at the end of the week he says. oh heres the kicker!! when i go to pick up my last check one of my ex-coworkers laughing and is like you gotta see this! so i follow him and check the wall out... guess who made employee of the month that month!! guess i was fired before it was announced. employee of the month/on vacation/20 year old who looks 40 gets fired... i can laugh now but at the time i was hella pissed.

oh. and about a month later a manager of a different store who heard about it asked me if i would like to work as his store. i told him no im done with sales.
