This happened about 2 months ago. I was working for a Pre-Employment Screening Service and because of the economy hiring hasn't been the same for a while. We lost one of our biggest clients due to the Mortgage meltdown. We slowing started screening less and less. So the work load wasn't that demanding. I was the Office Manager/Primary Screener there. This is the situation, my boss ran 2 companies, the employment screening firm, plus an ad agency. The ad agency seemed to be picking up as the screening firm was dying. He gave me a few projects to do from the agency side to keep me busy, but it wasn't enough. I was willing to learn more on the agency side to keep my job, but it appeared that he wasn't too interested in doing that. He always told me because I was there the longest and was very loyal that the only way I would loose my job is if he went out of business and but that didn't happen. I feel very betrayed and that I was lied too. The 2 other girls at the office are still there and he always told me that I would be the last one out the door, but surprise I was the 1st. My loyalty bit me in the butt. I was offered a job about 2 months before I was let go and turned it down because they wanted me start right away, and could not give notice. If I would not have been so loyal to him I would have a job right now and with PAID Health Insurance. That is rare these days. My boss did walk all over me at times, like asking me to clean his house and pick up his RX every month and even drive his family to the airport and pick them up. I cleaned the office on the weekends and did other ( Not in my Job Description) stuff. I just wanted to vent on the forum. I wasn't fired by I feel like I was.
