Forced to quit/was told I was to be fired anyway
I am a Christian, I worked for Group Health Cooperative of Southern Wisconsin and was sent an email from a higher up supervisor instructing me that if I continued to wear my cross necklace at work that I would be terminated because it was against Group Health's Policy and Procedures. I checked and there was nothing written in the policy's and procedures stating I could not were it. It is a very simple tiny diamond cross necklace. Well, I did not stop wearing it and a week later was told because I continued to wear it that my days were numbered and I had better start looking for a new job. I was also told at that time by "Becky" this boss that she did not like my Jesus and that Group Health nor her want anything to do with my Jesus (in a very snotty tone), I simply told her that I do not do anything wrong and she has no real grounds to fire me or harass me. She then said she could make up anything she wanted about me and all of management/human resources wold believe her and not me. Well, the harassment and discrimination got to be so severe that it was now affecting my medical condition of fibromyalgia. I was suspended for taking 2 days off to care for my 11 year old child who sustained an severe head injury skiing and could not be left alone. After that I realized the harassment would never stop even after going to human resources to report what this women "Becky Borchert" had been doing to me. NO help there. I had no choice but to quit a job that I truly loved so much. I miss talking with and working with the patients that came into the clinic everyday. If there is an attorney out there who would like to help me in this and hopefully prosecute them for this discrimination and harassment, please feel free to respond to me or send an email to my email address. Thanks for letting me vent!!

I'm sorry, but I am Christian also and if I really loved the job that much, I would have taken off the necklace and then waited and given God the opportunity to work in Becky's life, rather than be obstinate.
The laws on her side. Religious discrimination is illegal.
You should have removed the necklace. Throwing a job away for something like that is pure sillyness on your part. Practise your faith at home and in church. Pray silently to yourself at work. I admit they shouldn't have asked you to remove the necklace but making such an issue out of it is petty on your part.
