I worked for a security company at a mall and worked there for 6 years.I did my job and followed all their rules as close to the T as possible.I would get in trouble for small incidents like going after a shoplifter,asking people not to sit in the fire lane,you know the rules that was issued by the mall.I would watch the other security guards let people get away with stuff and show favortism to kiosk and walk around on their tour together.Guys who had no security background what so ever would come in and get promoted to seargeants after one year over me who got written up numerous times.I held my tongue and watched and just hoped for the best until it became unbearable.Friends got their friends in and the security depatrment became a joke.One day me a African American called another African American Officer the "N" word after him calling me a Fn snitch and a Fn clown.Three Caucasion Officers who had nothing to do with it reported me to the chief after I apologized to this officer.The chief gave me a written replemand for using a word that was taboo in the workplace,So as time goes on one of the officers starts making racial comments and starts doing racial acts like putting a white bag over his head and acts like he's a Klu Klux Klan member.I was coming off my day off when one of my fellow employees who was Hispanic shows me this video of him with this bag over his head and a supervisor is standing right next to him.I asked him are you going to report this to anyone,he says to who nobodies going to do anything.I said somebodies gonna have to do something about this because it can't keep going on.I told my supervisor and he said nothing was gonna get done about this, and he's the second in command.The third was the one in the video and the fourth was the one who reported me for saying the N word when it wasn't on his shift to begin with.I was walking when my friend who is the Operations manager of the malls son asked me how I was doing I said ok but these guys in security are really getting out of hand.He asked me how I then showed him the video that I copied off of the CCTV for fear they would erase it which is the malls property not the securities.He looked at it and said that what they were doing was not called for and they could get fired.He asked me if he wanted me to ask his father what I should do.I said ok because I don't know who to talk to.I broke down seeing how serious this was thinking that my chief would think it was serious too,being that the news was showing people hanging nooses and doing racial stuff.Instead he laughed at me and replied the officer was trying to be a chef and ofcourse I would say he was trying to be a KKK member.He made me make copy of the video to investigate the incident.I got called to the office three times over a week period saying I'm off camera's,who did I show the camera to and why didn't I follow the chain of command.The officer got suspended for two weeks then fired.That exact day he was fired I got fired for going out of the chain of command and the misuse of the camera for copying it to my phone.The Hispanic officer stated he didn't show me the video,the caucasion officers who seen him do it said they weren't going to say nothing against him,and the other ethnic groups who seen it said they weren't going to say nothing because they didn't want to lose their jobs.This was my second replimand and I didn't see me getting fired for doing the right thing.
