Cheap as Crap

Not technically "fired"... but unfairly laid off is just as bad.

I had been working at a hospital for a little over a year in the medical records department as the mail clerk for the ENTIRE HOSPITAL.

Note: Mine was the only position that performed this job.

One morning, I had only been at work for 30 minutes when my boss called me into her office. It was around time for our annual performance reviews, so I casually walked over to her office, thinking that was what it was about. When I got inside, I saw the CFO, who was head of our department, sitting in a chair. The only thing that ran through my mind was "uh oh." I sat down, and my boss told me that the hospital was making budget cuts and eliminating unnecessary positions, and my position was being eliminated. How they justified this decision is beyond me, after having to sit through several business meetings discussing how the hospital was bringing in a lot of money, and the figures were increasing every year.

I think they axed me to save money for their shiny new hospital that they plan on building in the distant future. And they haven't stopped since. When I got laid off, they did the same to about 50 other employees, and have laid off employees every year since. Cheap jerks.

I heard that they recently laid off the chaplain.

The husband of a friend of mine is a chaplain and was laid off last year from the local mental health center.
