Fired for yelling

I had been working at a law/life insurance firm with only 3 people, my boss, his 24 year old associate and me; for 7 months I got to know the abilities and skills of my boss and his associate. Thinking at first they were very nice and well adapted and organized, only to realize they were extremely DIS-organized and my boss was never in the office, left clients constantly waiting for him to return their phone calls (which he usually never did) and my boss's associate couldn't read, spell or write what seemed to be above a fourth grade level. We were always left here day after day tolerating one another and not allowed to really do anything without the approval of our boss who was continuously absent. For a long time I was polite and saying "Yes sir and no sir" to this 24 year old illiterate that I was supposed to respect. He constantly used a sarcastic demeaning tone when correcting my mistakes, and if anyone else had been listening, I would have appeared to be the incompetent one. One day as he was speaking to me in this way, I felt my face go numb and hot and I let out a slew of insults; everything I ever wanted to tell him or call him. I couldn't believe that no one had ever mentioned to this young man how rude and intolerant he was and perhaps he should try to brighten up his grammar skills but I guess I was the first. One week later, when my boss finally decided to grace us with his presence, I was fired, except I got to stay and work until I found a new job which was a nice gesture on my boss's part.

It's unnerving how rude some people are in the workplace. You would think they would pick up how others feel, but some folks just aren't that self-aware.
