Shop owners with REALLY bad habits.
When I was 18, I worked for an absolute gem of a human being. I was a piercer, and was hired by "Wolf" to run his novelty/memorabilia/smoke shop and pierce. Not a bad commission, I made minimum wage for running the shop and 25$ per piercing, and I was happy. I am notoriously good with numbers, and I created his entire log system and inventory system, and everything was hunky-dory for several months. Now, Wolf used to brag about how he was fired from the police department for beating some poor fool within an inch of his life, I suppose to let everyone know what a tough guy he was, and made sure to tell everyone that "NCPD has my back." LOLLERSKATES, no. He was fired in an internal sting for stealing the pot from a guy he pulled over, who happened to be an undercover. Like I said, a real gem of a man.All 3 of us at the shop started noticing abnormalities, Wolf coming in totally tweaked out, our bank missing when we got there to open in the mornings, and a VERY inconsistent pay.
So one day he comes in and accuses me of stealing by way of giving discounts on 'water pipes'. I pulled every reciept and every daily inventory to prove that the only money missing was the money HE removed from the register. he claimed to remember none of those visits (not surprising given the apparent amount of substance abuse going on), grumbled something to the effect of 'we'll see' and left for the day (after cleaning out the register again).
So he calls the shop the next morning, and I answer. He proceeds to tell me that I must have stolen the money, he has never taken anything out of the drawer, and I am fired, and no, he's not going to pay me for the last month I have worked to compensate. He THEN had the nerve to ask me to stay the rest of the day and lock up the shop in the evening. Sure, would YOU keep someone in the shop, by themselves, if you just fired them for stealing? He knew darned well I was honest, just didn't like me demanding my pay so much I guess.
I left at that very moment, and paid myself out from the register... to this day, 12 yrs later, he still owes me $218.00, that I couldn't recover before I left.
He called me at home that night and asked me what happened to the money, where I notified him of how much he still owed me. He moved within the week, but I never heard from him on that again.
Wolf is now serving a sentence for methamphetamine manufacturing, and has lost his entire chain of stores to his ex-wife. I never got paid, but the karma that came to him was worth it.
