Today is my last day at my current job. I quit on Friday. My reason for quitting is simple, though out of character for me: my horrendous boss. I can tolerate a lot, and I'm a very flexible person, but the attitude of this woman had taken its toll. From day 1, I was unsure as to whether she truly liked me. She was cold, and seemed as if she was too busy to help a brand new employee. So, I persevered, teaching myself things here and there. The inevitable time came when I made a mistake. Instead of her taking the approach that I was never properly trained, she was hostile. I have a gamut of passive-aggressive emails. She is 4' 10", but the whole room stiffens when she enters. She walks around like a little dictator, and I don't know if she's completely unaware of how she's perceived. She makes people feel like they're not good enough, and lashes out inappropriately. She's only been a direct manager of people for about a year now, and obviously has a lot to learn. I was happy to tell HR my reasons for leaving. It's also important to note that I am the 5th person in her department to leave since she became the manager - she's lost every single person in her department. We've all left because of her. She hasn't spoken to me much since I gave my notice, and when she has it's been sarcastic and demeaning. I should thank her for confirming every reason why I quit! I don't know if I wish bad things for her, but I do wish she would get a wake up call and learn how to be professionally respectful to people in the workplace. You can't be too prideful to let down your guard and admit human error, and be a tad understanding. I do hope she finds some happiness in life so she doesn't have to be such a miserable person. But, I'M FREE!!!!!
HAHA! I just had the same experience, except as a rule she hired only ex-cons in programs, ensuring noone would leave or stand up to her behavior. I guess whats good for business is good for business......

Hey,
I'm writing a book about leadership and bad bosses. Can I use your story?
