No one would ever believe it...
I worked @ a medical office as a medical assistant. Everyone in our small town advised me not 2 work there because the Dr, was a real witch, and the office manager wasn't any better. I didnt listen since it was so close 2 my kids school. I did great, recieved a raise after being there 3wks, and thought it was a great job. Then "things began 2 happen"...I was called into the managers office because I had 2hrs of overtime ....and was wrote up...(I lived the closest, so I was there first, and they would always leave early, and someone would HAVE 2 stay 2 take calls until 4:30p due 2 insurance companies).... At Christmas, the office recieved over 25 different gift/fruit baskets. (now let me explain, I was the only "nurse" in the office, 4 employees total--Dr, manager, me, young girl who did some filing)..I worked my butt off, and was never offered anything during Christmas, except an extra day off...w/out pay!!!!, the Dr, and manager took everything, then when the patients would come in and ask about the baskets, OM would say, "the girls just loved everything....ate all of it the same day"?????? What girls????? Not me, or the file clerk... My last straw began when I would be in the triage room getting a pt. ready 2 be seen, and the "DR." would come in and begin cussing me about a lab she couldnt find...I took pride in my job and always made sure everything was in the chart before she went in w/them.....When I mentioned this 2 the OM, she would just laugh it off and say "you have 2 overlook her"..My last day there, I had a 7yr old in the room w/his mother when the Dr came in and done this again...I politely smiled 2 the mother, apoligized, and put them in the room. I then removed all of my belongings, signed my time card, and went 2 the OM's desk, sat down my time card, handed over my keys 2 the office, and told her 2 tell the Dr 2 "take this job and shove it..."... never in my life have I done this...but boy! did it ever feel good...
I now work in a jail @ medical, work only weekends, double the pay, no harassment (not even from the inmates...lol)...and my greatest joy will be the day those 2 get booked... belive me, it's only a matter of time w/ their attitudes......

I am not surprised by this. I had a similar experience in a dental office. There was clear favortism among the docs and other staff who would repeatedly come in late, dodge work, and disrespect me. Whenever I spoke up for myself, I was accused of being rude and brought in the office. I left there forever aware of how mismanaged some places of employment can be.
