Fired over a coupon

I've been at Safeway for 2 years and got canned 100% unexpected. It was over a coupon!! I was being investigated because of an employee that didn't like me and decided to keep track of me 24/7 at work. She actually caught me giving a lady a coupon for a free sandwich NOT FREE. Just earlier then she was supposed to receive it (Only 1 day earlier) I though hmm big deal it's just a coupon.. Turns out they actually fired me for it. Lame isn't it? I get nothing in return from this and I'm put on the same level as thieves who steal money at work.

    I'm just wondering, Since when did it become wrong to have Good Customer Service skills??????? That's why "THEY" say,"The Customer Is ALWAYS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That really bothers me that you got fired for helping a customer. In what universe is that acceptable???

    a coupon date is a coupon date. safeway won't get reimbursed for a coupon that isn't valid. its not good customer service to steal for a customer, which is what was done here. as a customer i would NEVER ask someone to steal for me. maybe this type of bending the rules is why you weren't being investigated in the first place.

    it amazes me how many of these stories start out "because of _____ who didn't like me". there may be a reason to that.
