Boss should watched a different channel

When I was 14 years old, I had a job at a seafood restaurant, working Friday evenings and weekends, which interfered with activities I enjoyed. I didn't really "need" the job, so it was nothing for me to call in for the weekend. One particular weekend my uncle offered to take me to a well recognized and highly advertised and televised sports tournament, so I called in and told my boss I had a "family emergency" and had to go out of town for the weekend. The following Monday I received a call from my boss saying that he would have to "let me go". It turns out he saw me on TV at this event! I was pretty unfazed by it and enjoy telling about it to this day. It was the only job I have ever actually been "fired" from.
