Scotch tape
I know this sounds weird, but I was fired over a piece of tape. And not just any tape... Scotch Tape.
At the time, I worked for a subcontractor for xxxx. Yes, I worked at the helpdesk. I was a phone monkey. Our small subcontracting company was bought out by a company (who by all accounts) made it's money by buying smaller companies and selling off the parts. Joy.
It was a Monday (like ya had to guess that one). I had taken the morning off of work because I had to appear at our local traffic court for some overdue tickets. So, dressed in my Sunday Best, I arrived at work that evening to be told by a coworker that we were not getting paid this week because of our recent corporate takeover. Apparently they knew how to take over a company, but not how to count. So, in protest, my friend took down the banner that was hanging in the breakroom that said "Thank You For Our Success" and wrote "You Can Thank Me When You Pay Me" beneath it. I did not write it. I simply placed the tape in the top left corner. Voila. Fired.
