Re-programing the remote

One day a co-worker that had the day off called me at work and asked me to watch out for a fax coming through for him. It was a Friday. A few miunutes later, the fax machine started cranking something out. I grabbed it and noticed that it was instructions on how to program a car remote control. He had just bought a car for his wife at an auction. If you've ever had to program a car remote, you know that they have you do a ton of things. Turn on ignition, press button 1, turn off ignition, press button 2 3 times, etc. And you have to do it all within 30 seconds. I decided to leave him my own version of the instructions. I added a few things ... turn on lights, roll down rear passenger window, hit brake 13 times, things like that. Stuff he could never do in 30 seconds. I printed this up and left it on his desk. The next Monday rolled around. I had forgotten what I had done. I could hear him talking to the car dealership saying "What? That's not what MY step 3 says". He came into my cube all upset. He said he had spent all weekend trying to program the remote. His wife was complaining the whole time. It gets even better. Next, he tells me that the dealership is faxing him new instructions. He has to go to the bathroom, could I watch out for them. Sure enough, as soon as he leaves, the fax comes. This time, I just toss the real fax and leave my copy on the fax machine. About 5 minutes later I hear him SCREAMING on the phone to the dealership say they sent him the same directions again, he's not reading the same one they're reading, etc. It was great. I finally had to let him in on the joke. He had to call the dealership back and apologize. The good thing is that they thought it was funny and programed the remote for him for free. The funniest part of theis whole thing was that I thought that he had bought the car without the remote and he was trying to program a new remote. That wasn't it. The car came with a remote that was working fine. His wife wanted it re-programed to turn on the confirmation beep when you lock it. In following my steps, he had de-preogramed the whole thing. Nothing worked.
