Fired for not using salutations!
I was an Area Sales Manager responsible for 4 states and as many as 17 Account Executives. I was on the road 80% of the time.
A new Manager was hired (first management position) who had worked for me as an Account Executive a number of years ago. He immediately felt threatened by everyone and had to show that he was in charge.
Prior to his first full month on the job, I told our Regional Manager that his new guy wanted me out. I was told that I was over reacting. Well, my premonition, as it was came true.
The reason I was let go is almost comical. I was "FIRED" for, let me try and put it exactly how it was written..........
"Patrick has ceased to address me when he arrives in the morning and does not inform me of when he leaves in the evening".
So for not saying "Good Morning Mr. Grinch, isn't it a beautiful day" and in the evening..."Good Night Mr. Grinch, enjoy your evening", I was let go.
Isn't life wonderful.
