Ah, the loveliness of working for a sub shop

I just had to post this because it cracks me up each time I remember it.
I was 19 years old and working at a sub shop. The owners were out of town when I was hired, and one of my really good friends was my manager, and she hired me. I worked there for MAYBE 1 month.

I made the place IMMACULATE at the end of my shift when I closed. I mopped, scrubbed...you name it. But my "friend" was not the brightest crayon in the box. She would close the place early because she was "tired" and what not. It was weird. I would go to work and the doors would be locked and lights turned off. I'd call her and she'd say she was tired so she closed early...it was 2 pm!!!!

ANYWAYS! The owners returned from vacation and they noticed a HUGE drop in numbers. Not to mention I had a $100 bill stolen from my wallet there and only 4 of us worked there. So it was pretty easy to figure out who. The other 3 people was my "friend"'s druggie son, and her weird neighbor who weighed in at 400 pounds and still lived with her mother at the age of 46. Then there was my "friend". My "friend" didn't want to take the rap for closing early or put the finger on her neighbor or son. So she blamed it on ME.

But here is where it gets humerous. I got a message on my answering machine one day from her saying "I noticed the place was trashed after you left last night. The floor wasn't mopped, trash wasn't taken out. So you're fired. You really left me in a bind. The owners want you gone. You're fired. Yeah...you're fired. Please don't bother coming in because you're fired. And don't tell them about the store closing early because it isn't important. One more thing..I hope we can still be friends. Please turn in your uniform on though since you no longer work for us" I almost fell over laughing.

No we're not friends and no I didn't return the uniform (i.e. visor and shirt)...I burned it :D She claims she caught me on camera not cleaning. That's REALLY funny considering I specifically remember mopping the floors and bleaching the boards and taking the trash out when I left.
But yeah..I thought it was funny :D:p
