Loosing A Good Job For What???

Going back in time to the 70's. Landing a private secretarial job in Southern California for a nationally known Life Insurance Company was a big deal to me. I qualified and I wanted to do my best for the company. Responsible to the regional manager "B" and office manager "L" would certainly be a challege that I looked forward to. Not long after I was hired, I was sexually harrassed by the office manager "L" on a daily basis. It was either his sexual comments or his petty jealousy that I might be once again in his bosses office, the regional manager, having to take dictation for him and not being at my desk so he could watch every move I made. I was professional in every sense of the word and wanted to keep it that way so I never laughed at his sexual jokes nor did I make any waves about the illigal drug smoking that was coming from one of the top insurance agents office. I did ask, "what is that smell"?. I was told by the office manager "L" to "not mind it", "that it was coming from the office down the hall, and that this insurance agent does so well with his quarterly sales that we just kind of let him "do" what he wants". After several months of working in their Anaheim office, I was taken into a cubicle by the office manager and told that if I didn't "communicate" with him, I would be "let go within three months". "Communicate", meaning, laugh at his sexual jokes, take him up on his sexual advances and learn to live with that "awful" reek in the office, as well. I didn't give way to my professional standards and it was difficult to work under the circumstances but sure enough at the end of the three months I was let go by "L" the office manager. I am not sure how he explained my job away to "B"the regional manager, but, he obviously had the last say so. Oh, one more thing...he "L"
requested I remain for two additional weeks to train my replacement. Another girl in the office who worked with me at the same time was young and pregnant and I shall say she "complied" with the office managers tactics, so she kept her job and I didn't. I was quite distraught to have lost a job that I needed to help with the household and the raising of my two small children.

Needless to say, I have my life insurance policies vested with some other company whose name doesnt have the name of a state in it.
