Fired for sucking at my job, and searching for a friend.

In 1997 when I was in the Marines, my unit deployed for five months on a cruise to all sorts of exotic places. It was a training, and a "dog and pony show" as they called it. (We trained with other militaries, and met foreign dignitaries) At the time, I was a team leader, and had three guys under me. One of them was a "Problem child" named "Bell." He was relaly a nice kid, with a great big heart, but really small, pudgy and sloppy looking. He always put out 110% effort, but it was never good enough for our platoon Sgt., who hated his guts. Well, one day we were out training in the jungle, somewhere in Malasia, and "Bell" got lost. That wasn't hard to do, since it was triple canopy, and the bush was incredibly thick. My Platoon Sgt. told me to go find him, and in the process of me looking for him, I ended up getting lost too!!! Well out in this jungle, there was all kinds of nasty creeatures, like elephants, tigers, spider monkeys, cobras, scorpions, you name it. So I was pretty freaking scared, let me tell you! I was found by my platoon about an hour later, and my platoon sgt was standing there with "Bell" right next to him. Apparently, he was never lost, and was sleeping under his poncho the whole time. Well, my Platoon Sgt. Grabbed me by the collar, and gave me a pretty good beatdown, to make a long story short. After cleaning myself up, he made me dig my own grave, and he and my platoon guide buried me up to my neck with dirt, the whole time saying stuff like "We're sorry ma'am, but your son is dead because he's an IDIOT" After they let me out, the Platoon Sgt. Made sure he yelled out "Lance corporal *******, you're fired!!

I sure wish I would've said something to the higher ups about it, but I didn't want to be known as a "Squealer." Stupid on my part.
