"Can't buy my love"
So I just moved to New York City and I get a job in my first week at a small Real Estate office…(On day 2 of interviewing, my soon-to-be-boss takes me to a pricey lunch. That should have been an indicator of months to come)
During the next 7 months I am asked things like
“how much” (am I) ?
“What if I buy you an apartment in the city?”
“Do you want to be a kept woman” (showing his age here…a super wealthy 64 yr. old)
ETC…
I refused week after week, but keeping in mind that I need to keep this job for the NY experience on my resume…
Very crafty this one; he got his son to come back and work for him…slowly, my workload began to dwindle.
When I was fired, (laid off), it was due to “not enough work”
Yeah, we’ve all heard that one before.
For the record, I did collect unemployment, and I didn’t sue.
But damn, that apartment on 5th Ave. sure would’ve been nice…
