Fired for being College Educated
I was fired from my first job post college graduation. When I got hired at my first job I found that I was the only one in the department who was college educated. Everyone else, including the department director, had only a high school education.Being new, I required some time to learn how to perform the job duties. But every time I asked a question I was told, "You went to college; you should be able to figure it out." And when I made errors due to lack of proper guidance I was reprimanded.
This cycle went on for almost 6 months before I was called in to speak with the director, where I was given two weeks severance pay and told to clean out my desk. When I asked why I was being fired I was told that my 'level of education' was intimidating to the others in the department and they felt that they should replace me with someone who was less educated.
This came from a person who had been promoted from administrative assistant to the VP of HR to Director of Sales and Marketing in one move  at this company education was clearly not an asset.
