Ok, so this isn't really a "funny" story, but I thought I'd post it here for those distraught souls...

Possibly unlike most people out of undergrad I had this career plan all set. I was going to work as an accountant, get my CPA, then transition to finance and get my CFA and be rich and all that stuff. After my first busy season with the accounting firm I was downsized (read: fired) after working 70 hour weeks for the past 5 months of my life. That sucked.

However, getting fired was the best thing ever to happen to me. I'd probably be dead if I kept working at that place and would not have gone down my current career path which has brought me not only success, but satisfaction.

I like to send Google News clippings of stories about me when they come up to my old mean supervisor at the accounting firm who was just a miserable person...but no, i'm not spiteful or anything ;)
